Dublin news LIVE: Education Minister’s message to students as Departure and Junior Cert begin, traffic updates

Students across Ireland are preparing as the Leaving Cert and Junior Cert exams are due to start today.

More than 130,000 students will take state exams after two years of having the option of scheduled grades.

Speaking to students across the country, Education Minister Norma Foley said this morning: “It has been a difficult two years and many demands have been placed on your shoulders.

“But you rose to every challenge with resilience, determination, focus and goodwill. I’m confident that all the hard work you’ve put in over the past few years will stand you in good stead.”

In addition, the current waiting times for passengers at Dublin Airport are as follows:

  • Terminal 1: 15 min
  • Terminal 2: 15 min

A man was taken to hospital following a car accident on the N7 on Tuesday evening.

Gardai and Dublin Fire Brigade were at the scene of the collision in Saggart at 8.55pm.

One of the drivers was taken to Tallaght University Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, a garda spokesman confirmed.
